Parent Health Testing
Learn about our approach to parent health testing and request the records for the parents of your chosen litter.
Start with the parents of your puppy
Parent health care includes genetic screening and routine veterinary care, which provide different kinds of information. The most useful records are those for the mother and father of the litter you are considering.
Meet our parent dogs in the directory, then request their individual health records. Test panels and evaluations vary by dog; please review the specific reports rather than assuming every parent has completed the same tests. Contact us to request the reports for your chosen litter; individual reports are not currently linked in the directory.

DNA screening looks for the inherited variants included in a particular laboratory panel. Results are specific to the dog tested and the conditions covered by that panel; screening does not rule out every disease or guarantee lifelong health.
A clear, carrier, or at-risk result needs to be interpreted in the context of the condition and both parents' results. Ask for the laboratory report, the dog's identifying details, the panel name, and the date, rather than assuming a general health-testing label covers a particular condition.
Veterinary examinations and other evaluations
A veterinary wellness examination assesses a dog's health at the time of the visit. It is not the same as genetic screening.
Orthopedic assessments and cardiac or eye evaluations are separate procedures with their own reports. Ask which evaluations are documented for your chosen puppy's parents and request the corresponding records; these should not be assumed from a general health-testing description.
Temperament observations and routine preventive care are also important, but neither is a substitute for a laboratory result or a specialist evaluation.
Reviewing a particular litter
- Check the parent names on the puppy or litter profile.
- Request the corresponding parent health reports and confirm they identify those dogs.
- Discuss the scope and limitations of the results with your veterinarian.
- Review the written health guarantee and ask questions before reserving.
