Puppy Care Guide
Everything you need to know to give your new puppy the best start in life, from nutrition to training basics.
Bringing Your Puppy Home
The first few days with your new puppy are exciting, but they can also be overwhelming for the puppy. We recommend keeping things calm and quiet. Establish a designated safe area, like a playpen or crate, where your puppy can retreat and rest. Consistency is key during these early days. Follow the initial veterinary-exam deadline in your signed purchase agreement, and arrange the appointment before pickup where possible.
Nutrition
We feed our puppies a high-quality, nutritionally balanced puppy food. We will provide you with a sample of their current food. If you choose to switch brands, do so gradually over 7-10 days by mixing the new food with the old to prevent digestive upset. Puppies should be fed 3 times a day until they are about 6 months old.
Potty Training Basics
We begin foundational potty and crate training exercises while the puppies are still with us, but they will still need consistent training at home. Take your puppy out frequently: after eating, drinking, playing, and waking up. Praise them enthusiastically when they go outside. Patience and a consistent schedule are your best tools.
